An EQ Bank void cheque is a file you download. EQ Bank's help page puts it in the direct deposit section of the app and of online banking.
In the EQ Bank mobile app
- Sign in to your EQ Bank account on the mobile app.
- Tap the navigation menu in the top right corner.
- Select Deposit Money, then Direct Deposit.
- Tap Download Void Cheque to save it.
In a web browser
- Sign in to your EQ Bank account online.
- Under My Accounts, click Direct Deposit.
- Select the account.
- Click Download to save the void cheque.
You then give the file to the company that is paying you.
EQ Bank's numbers
EQ Bank lists its transit number as 80002 and its institution number as 623, and each account has its own nine-digit account number. In cheque terms, 80002 is EQ Bank's transit number, 623 is its institution number, and the nine digits are your account. EQ Bank also says there is no hold on direct deposits: funds are available as soon as they are deposited.
To see where those numbers sit on a cheque, check how to read a void cheque. A form that wants a nine-digit routing number takes the same two codes, and bank routing numbers in Canada shows the format.
EQ Bank details from suppliers
Every EQ Bank account shares the same transit and institution numbers. Only the account number differs, and on an emailed PDF that is the easiest part to change. Smartbills vendor management has the supplier enter it on its own vendor record instead. If a new supplier's account or tax number matches an existing vendor, it's flagged as a likely duplicate, and accounts payable pays from the record.
