With Tangerine, the void cheque comes from your Chequing Account online. Tangerine also shows your direct deposit details on their own screen, which you can share with an employer or the Canada Revenue Agency instead of a cheque.
Void cheque on the web
- Log in, if you are not already logged in.
- Click your Chequing Account.
- Click the Void Cheque button. You get a PDF you can print.
Void cheque in the Tangerine app
- Select your Chequing Account.
- Tap the three dots in the top corner.
- Select Void Cheque and follow the prompts.
Direct deposit details instead of a cheque
On the web, click your Chequing Account and select Direct Deposit. Tangerine shows your institution, transit and account numbers, with a link to view your void cheque, and a Share button to send the details. In the app, select the account, tap the three dots at the top of the screen, then Direct Deposit.
What the numbers are
The screen lists your transit number, Tangerine's institution number and your account number, the same three a cheque carries. Tangerine's institution number is 614 in Payments Canada's directory of members.

When a supplier banks with Tangerine
Whether a supplier sends a Tangerine void cheque or uses the Share button, details that travel by email can be changed in transit, and the next payment goes wherever they point. In Smartbills vendor management, the supplier records its own banking details instead. A new vendor sharing an account or tax number with an existing one is flagged as a likely duplicate, and accounts payable pays from that record.
