Sign in to National Bank online banking, select your bank account and click Documents and statements. Choose the document type and time period, click Search and download your statement. Credit card statements are under Download my eStatements on the card instead.
Bank account statement lookup
- Web browser: sign in, select your bank account, click Documents and statements, choose the document type and time period, click Search and download the statement.
- App: sign in, select the bank account, then More, then Documents and statements. Select the time frame, click Search and pick the statement to view.
Credit card statements
- Online: sign in, click Overview, then select your credit card. In the app: select the card, then More.
- Click Download my eStatements.
- Select the time frame and click Search.
- Select the statement to download or view.
How far back the archive goes
National Bank's personal help pages do not state a retention period. For online banking for business, its help centre says account statements and cheque images (current accounts and online business investment accounts) are archived for seven years, and credit card statements for three years. The business archive starts with account statements and cheque images issued as of April 15, 2016, and Mastercard credit card statements have been available since August 2020.
Pulling a year at once
Both search screens take a time frame. Set it to the full tax year and every monthly statement for that account appears together, which is quicker than opening months one by one. Do the same on each credit card, since card statements sit under a different menu from the account.
Receipts still needed for GST and QST

National Bank statements saved before the three years
Business card statements leave the archive after three years. Connect your National Bank login and our AI agent saves each new statement through bill fetching. Invoices emailed by suppliers are caught by email receipt capture, and card purchases by staff can be submitted in an expense report.
