BMO eStatements are viewed, printed and saved in BMO Online Banking under My Accounts. They cover chequing, savings, credit card, line of credit and mutual fund accounts, look exactly like the paper version, and are stored for seven years.
Turning on eStatements
- Sign in to BMO Online Banking.
- Go to My Accounts.
- Choose the account, then select Change Statement Options.
- Under Available Statement Options, select eStatements.
- Review and agree to the conditions, then select Verify Statement Options.
BMO offers a demo of the eStatement setup if you want a walkthrough.
Statement lookup in My Accounts
BMO's Online Banking Help Centre lists View eStatements, Change Statement Options and Download Account Details as separate topics under My Accounts. Use View eStatements for the monthly PDF and Download Account Details when you want the transactions themselves. The PDF is what a lender or the CRA will ask to see. The transaction download is the file you categorize in a spreadsheet or bookkeeping tool, and it does not replace the statement.
Paper statements and the extra-statement fee
Each Everyday Banking Plan includes one free paper statement for the account of your choice. Every additional monthly paper statement carries a fee. To avoid it, go paperless or combine accounts into a consolidated statement.
What a consolidated statement can include
A consolidated statement is mailed only to the Canadian address on the account. It cannot include BMO InvestorLine accounts, business accounts, passbook accounts, or accounts not held in your name.
BMO statements as business records
If you run a side business through a personal BMO account, the eStatement is your proof of each deposit and payment. It is not proof of what a purchase was for. Keep receipts that show GST/HST for anything you claim.
BMO eStatements saved before the seven years end
Connect your BMO Online Banking login and our AI agent pulls each eStatement as it posts through bill fetching. Need banking details for payroll as well? See how to get a BMO void cheque. Purchases charged to a BMO card for work can go into an expense report with the receipt attached.
