myDATA is the Greek tax authority's (AADE) digital accounting platform. Every business sends it a summary of each invoice it issues, from its accounting software, through a certified e-invoicing provider or with AADE's own free apps. Because each summary names the buyer's VAT number (AFM), the buyer can see the documents issued to it in its own myDATA area.
Where the buyer sees its invoices
Sign in to myDATA on aade.gr with your Taxisnet credentials. The expenses side lists the documents other businesses transmitted with your AFM as the recipient, with the issuer, the date, the net amount and the VAT. A business that keeps books classifies those expenses, and when a supplier never transmitted an invoice, the recipient can report the omission. Accounting software reads the same documents through the myDATA REST API.
Mandatory e-invoicing in 2026
Business-to-business invoices are moving to mandatory e-invoicing, issued through a certified provider or AADE's free timologio and myDATAapp apps:
- March 2, 2026: businesses whose gross revenue for 2023 was above €1,000,000.
- November 2, 2026: all other businesses, with a transition until January 31, 2027 during which existing software can run alongside. From February 1, 2027, invoices go out only through a provider or AADE's apps.
What myDATA does not show
myDATA holds the data of a document, not a line-by-line copy you can hand to an auditor, and only for documents that name your AFM. A retail receipt with no AFM on it, a foreign supplier's invoice or a hotel bill abroad will not be there.
Retail receipts
Shops issue receipts from fiscal electronic devices that report to AADE. A receipt can carry your AFM when you ask for it, which turns it into an expense document for your business.
Keeping the documents themselves
Smartbills keeps the receipts and invoices behind those numbers: photograph a receipt in the app or forward an invoice email, and each one is kept with its items, every tax and the total, next to the rest of your expenses.
