Oyster

Oyster invoices are on the Invoices page of your Oyster account, and admins find contractor invoices under Payments, then Invoices. For EOR team members, Oyster's fees are columns on the same invoices as payroll costs. For contractors, the fees arrive on a monthly invoice of their own.

Invoices for EOR team members

Each month opens with a pre-funding invoice, a statistical estimate of payroll that Oyster collects before payday. It cannot be disputed and usually comes in under the real cost, because it leaves some payroll items out. A settlement invoice follows with actual costs, adding items like 13th-month pay, local accruals, termination costs and unused vacation. Any gap becomes an extra amount owing or a credit note, and settlement invoices can be disputed. A deposit invoice covers the deposit Oyster requires.

Where Oyster's fees appear

On EOR invoices, the Oyster fee column holds the subscription fee, monthly or annual plus any add-ons, while Oyster benefit fee holds fees tied to benefits. Service taxes such as VAT or Brazil ISS get their own column where they apply. The downloadable invoice breakdown splits gross salary, employer contributions, Oyster fees and other costs; contractor invoices have no such breakdown.

Contractor fee invoices

Oyster generates a contractor fee invoice automatically on the 1st of each month for the month before. A contractor active in September appears on the October 1 invoice. Fees keep coming while a contract reads Engaged. To stop them, terminate the contract in Oyster. Pay-as-you-go contractors only trigger a fee in a month when they submit an invoice.

Amount, amount due and the exchange rate

Amount is the total when the invoice was generated, and amount due is what is left after credit notes and payments. Oyster converts at the rate from the last day of the previous month and reuses the pre-funding rate on the settlement invoice. Direct debit is offered to companies in the US, the UK and the eurozone.

Oyster's invoice pairs, matched

A pre-funding invoice, its settlement and the credit note between them only make sense read together. Our AI agent signs in to Oyster with your login and brings all three into one place through bill fetching. Monthly contractor fee invoices count as business costs for your tax receipts. If your finance team forwards Oyster PDFs to a shared mailbox, email receipt capture files them from there.
