Why people look

Why teams look for a Corpay alternative

The reasons that come up in evaluations. Whether they apply to you depends mostly on where your receipts come from.

Matching a receipt to a card transaction means reading a photograph and hoping it is legible.

A store that uses Smartbills issues the receipt as data at payment, and it matches the transaction as soon as it arrives, with nothing to read.

Extraction gets the date and the total right and loses most of the lines underneath.

A merchant-issued receipt carries every line as the POS recorded it. Coding and tax treatment start from the full detail.

The thermal slips in our files are unreadable long before the retention period ends.

Since it arrives as data, the receipt stays readable and searchable for as long as you're required to keep it.

And Smartbills, which is ours

Slipping our own product into a roundup without saying so is exactly what makes these pages worthless, so to be clear, this one is ours.

Best for: Teams that want the receipt to arrive as itemized data from the merchant, instead of being photographed and then read by software.

How this list was put together

These are the products that come up in the same evaluations as Corpay, drawn from what prospects actually shortlist against it and from the rest of its category. The order is editorial rather than a ranking, because we don't run benchmarks on products we don't operate, and a scored table written by a vendor about its competitors isn't evidence. Each entry links to a full comparison with claims specific enough to check.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before they sign up.

Yes. FLEETCOR renamed itself Corpay on 25 March 2024, and the ticker changed from FLT to CPAY. It's still publicly traded.

It holds a minority stake of roughly a third, taken alongside TPG in October 2025, and TPG holds the majority. They are separate operating companies and are compared separately here.

Because the part they share (the receipt behind a card transaction) works very differently in each. If you need fuel cards and payouts in 140 currencies, buy Corpay.

Bring one month of your own receipts and card transactions. The number that settles it is the share of transactions that ended up with an itemized document attached, and you can measure that in one cycle.
