An invoice has to say who owes what and by when, and carry a number you and your client can both refer to later. Everything beyond that is presentation.
Your business name, address and tax registration number, plus your client's name. If you're registered to collect sales tax or VAT, showing that registration number is usually a legal requirement.
A unique number that follows on from your last invoice is what lets you and your client find the same document a year from now. Set the issue date and the due date; net 30 is the usual default.
One line per item, with quantity and unit price. Invoices that say clearly what the client is paying for get paid faster than ones that just say “services rendered”.
The Save as PDF button opens your browser's print dialog, where you pick Save as PDF as the destination. Nothing is stored here. Save the file before you close the tab.
Get started
Writing the invoice is the easy part. Smartbills keeps track of what's still unpaid and applies each payment when it lands. Following up stops eating somebody's Friday afternoon.
