Smartbills vs Yooz

Yooz reads supplier invoices extremely well. A receipt handed over at checkout is a different document, which is why these two usually sit together.

At a glance

Smartbills vs Yooz, in one screen

Yooz is a French purchase-to-pay platform built on extraction for supplier invoices: multi-channel ingestion, self-learning coding, three-way matching, approvals, supplier statement reconciliation and payment, with a very large ERP connector catalog. Its center of gravity is the supplier invoice, not a point-of-sale receipt.

Smartbills

Best for

Teams whose capture problem is the receipt an employee was handed, not the supplier invoice.

Where it's stronger

  • Covers spend that never had a supplier invoice: cards, store receipts and reimbursements.
  • Receipts arrive as structured data rather than as documents to be read.
  • Expenses, cards and receipts are one system rather than an edge case.
  • On the customer side, the receipt feeds loyalty and pay at table.

Yooz

Best for

Teams processing supplier invoices at volume, especially under European e-invoicing mandates.

Where it's stronger

  • Fifteen years of invoice extraction, and touchless processing is its strongest claim.
  • A connector catalog reaching ERPs we do not, including on-premise systems.
  • Supplier statement reconciliation is productized, which is genuinely uncommon.
  • Well placed for EU e-invoicing mandates, which may settle the question on its own.

Moving from Yooz

None of this needs a big-bang cutover. Most teams run both tools for one cycle and compare capture rates before switching anyone off.

  1. Ask if you need both

If your volume is supplier invoices, most teams keep Yooz and add capture beside it.

  2. Count invoices and receipts

Count what arrives as an invoice and what arrives as a receipt before pricing anything.

  3. Connect your ledger

Connect the ERP or ledger Yooz already posts to and map your categories and tax codes.

  4. Pilot the receipt half

Give one cycle to the card and receipt spending Yooz doesn't claim to cover.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before they sign up.

Probably not. Yooz processes supplier invoices and Smartbills captures receipts and card spend, and those are two different halves of the same ledger.

Not as far as we can document. Its boilerplate has mentioned travel and expense automation, but we found no product page. Treat it as undocumented and ask them.

It has run a North American operation from Texas for a decade, but we found no Canadian entity. Confirm GST and HST handling with them directly.
