How to download a SMUD bill

To pay a SMUD bill without signing in, use Pay now on SMUD's Ways to pay page for a one-time guest payment. Signed-in customers pay and reach their statements in My Account and the SMUD app. Auto Bill Pay sits under Billing & Payments in My Account and starts with the next bill cycle.
Guest pay, My Account and the app
Guest pay suits a quick payment or someone paying on your behalf. In the SMUD app, roommates can cover their share with only the account number and account ID printed on the bill. Logged-in customers can customize payment options in My Account, and the app pays a bill in two taps from its dashboard.
Statement lookup in My Account
SMUD describes paperless billing as a way to pay your bill and access your statements anytime, and says you can check your account history online. Paperless customers get an email when each bill is ready. SMUD's help pages don't say how many months of statements stay available. Payments themselves show under View payments, where a scheduled or pending payment can still be cancelled.
Auto Bill Pay and the EFT form
- Log in to My Account.
- Open the Billing & Payments menu and choose Auto Bill Pay.
- Pay any open invoices by hand. Enrollment only takes effect on the next cycle.
The paper route is the Electronic Funds Transfer program. Fill in and sign the EFT application, attach a voided check or your savings account and ABA number, and mail it to SMUD, EFT, M.S. A253, P.O. Box 15830, Sacramento, CA 95852-0830 with no payment inside. Keep paying until a statement reads "Bank will pay on" with a date and amount. Confirmation takes 6 to 8 weeks. That statement is also the record to file for the month.
Phone, pay stations and mail
- Phone: 1-888-742-7683. Representatives take eCheck payments weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The automated line runs 24 hours for residential customers.
- Pay stations: cash, check or money order, no credit cards. Walmart takes only cash and PIN debit.
- Lobby: 6301 S Street, Sacramento, weekdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Mail: account number on the check, stub included, to SMUD, P.O. Box 15555, Sacramento, CA 95852-1555.
SMUD statements without the monthly login
A Sacramento rental or home office needs each SMUD statement, not just the eCheck line on the bank feed. Connect My Account and our AI agent signs in and saves every new statement through bill fetching. The bill-ready emails from paperless billing are picked up by email receipt capture, and both end up attached to the right expense report.
